“Tell me your name…”
This project is an experiment in “translation.” Taking a name, a sequence of letters, and turning it into a composition.
I have always been interested in interdisciplinary work, bridging worlds and pulling from a wider variety, having more to build on. Graphic Design and Furniture Design feeding off one another was the start of many past projects and the start of this one.
This project is about exploration. I don’t have much experience with coding, and that’s what makes it exciting. It forces me to think differently, work within new constraints, and find creative solutions in an unfamiliar medium. That challenge—of figuring things out as I go—is something I enjoy, and it keeps me pushing forward.
This simple code takes something personal – one’s name and turns it into a simple visual composition. The goal was to create an interface resembling typical AI models. It then takes each letter of the inputted name and showcases the letters in furniture form. Pressing different keys changes the arrangement, layering randomness with intention. It’s a mix of control and unpredictability, input and outcome, which mirrors how I like to design—balancing precision with play.
The result is a constantly shifting composition, ever-changing, shaped by interaction. It’s a simple idea that speaks to how I work—following curiosity, seeing where it leads, and making something I wouldn’t have thought of without that initial combination.
