This interactive p5.js sketch explores the relationship between short-form content, long-form content, and the digital ecosystem that connects them. Small, fast-moving rectangles represent short-form media (phones), while larger, slower rectangles represent long-form media (desktops/TVs). Circles and connecting lines form an underlying network — the media ecosystem itself.
Through gamified interaction, users attempt to “unplug” by clicking to freeze each moving device. Short-form content is faster and harder to catch, while long-form content moves more slowly, highlighting differences in speed, attention, and consumption patterns. The sketch becomes a metaphor for digital life: devices are always active, distraction is constant, and disconnecting requires conscious effort.
The work reflects on how short-form content reshapes attention, influences long-form production, and makes unplugging increasingly complex — yet still possible through intentional action
